Wayne Connell is the General Manager and Co-Founder of Quick App Australia. The Marcoola based start-up is taking the small business world by storm with their affordable smart phone application services. Wayne took the time to talk to our team and tell us more:
Tell us a bit about Quick App, and how you got started?
Quick App is a local Sunshine Coast business that was 5 years in the making. After years of planning, we finally started in November 2014. We had no clients then but we had a fantastic idea. I had run small businesses in the past and knew of the struggles business owners today face with trying to market their brand as well as run the day-to-day of the business. We wanted to be able to offer SME’s an affordable option when it came to smartphone applications. We want to help SME’s not only survive, but thrive in their local space. Our research had shown us that the average cost of development of an App for small business was around $7,000-10,000. We knew that was out of the reach of 99 % of small business owners, so we came up with an option that enabled us to build a custom App from $500 and a small monthly fee with no contract.
How did you get your idea off the ground?
I had the idea for Quick App around 5 years ago, however, the technology wasn’t out there. After looking around the globe for a few years and speaking with my business partner Tim, we joined forces with a company from Israel who had developed something similar to what we were looking for. After doing some due-diligence on what the history was, we negotiated a partner agreement and started Quick App.
What are your goals for the future?
The future is looking bright for the Quick App team. We now have over 100 clients (in our first 12 months!) and we are about to release 2 new platforms into the Australian market. The first is with our partners from Israel with an exclusive CLM (Customer loyalty management system) which is a game changer for anyone in the retail or hospitality space. The second is our very own DIY platform which will enable anyone to custom design & build their very own app. Exciting times ahead!
